How we handle data

Last updated: May 2026

BetterVisit prepares a structured pre-consultation summary for clinician review. Personal data sits close to clinical care, so we treat it accordingly.

What we collect

BetterVisit collects information patients enter through the pre-consultation intake (symptoms, history, and concerns), and basic information needed to operate the service (clinic identifiers, audit logs, system performance metrics).

We do not collect biometric data, location, or any data category not required to prepare a clinician-facing summary.

Where data is stored

Data is stored in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, on infrastructure with recognised security certifications. We do not transfer personal data outside the UK/EEA without an appropriate legal basis.

How long we keep it

Patient intake data and the clinician-facing summary are retained for the period required by the contracting clinic's record-keeping policy and applicable NHS guidance. Operational logs (used for audit and safety) are retained for a defined period and then deleted.

Who can access data

Access is limited to authorised clinical staff of the requesting clinic and a small number of BetterVisit engineers acting under audit, for operational and safety purposes. Every access event is logged.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to access, correct, restrict, and (in many cases) delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
